I had the following three experiences with Google on subsequent days:

- Realized that searching in Google Groups is horribly broken again. A post I wrote is completely unindexed. I don't care that they abandoned Usenet, but they didn't have to buy Dejanews if they were going to do such a shitty job. They've done a marvelously shitty job with Usenet.

- Using Google's web search engine (non-Groups-related), I tried to search for an obscure phrase on the IFDB that nevertheless had results. Google gave me the results for something on the IMDB and demanded I click on a link to get what I actually fucking asked for. This isn't a situation where no results were returned and they went to the first thing that did. This is them basically making their search engine worthless. Such a moronic, amateur decision to implement that as default functionality.

- I read, as everyone in this thread, that Google bought a company whose chief product seems to be a stunning parody of understanding of even the simplest advantages a modern computer offers. I don't want to break out the periods but they bought a company that successfully. modeled. a messy. desk. If anyone out there wants to be guaranteed a job at Google, develop a 3D application with a touch screen that forces the user to lick an area on the display where a jpg of a stamp is before allowing the user to send any e-mail.

Who would have guessed that "don't be evil" was less of a problem than "don't be incompetent"?
