TV commercial: F minus by FABIO 02/13/2005, 5:16pm PST So you've got an ass kicking game that completely breaks away from its stagnated franchise. How would you advertise this? You would probably make a big show out of the battles against mobs of filthy villages with torches, pitchforks, and exploding heads, right? Well, that's why Capcom didn't hire you to do the ad. They start off the commercial well enough with the tagline "Forget everything you think you know about Resident Evil". So far so good. The series has sucked since the original, we want to distance ourselves from that. Then over half of the commercial is devoted to the cutscene where you rescue the president's daughter. "I'm Luke Skywalker Leon, your father sent me. I'm here to rescue you." "My father? Hooray!" Then a couple seconds of crossbow bolts flying through the air, a brief half second flash of villagers, and then the giant Gollum boss who, taken out of context, is actually pretty tame by past resident evil standards. Just going off of the commercial makes it seem like some sort of pedophile love story about rescuing the princess from a couple of medieval archers, and showcases none of the awesome this game is jam packed with. Complete failure.
