Why do I ever leave here where it's safe and filled with sane people?
I just got back from 4chan's /tv/. I almost put a hole in a wall after reading a post telling me how Avatar was about human truths and how I'm to ignorant to understand them.
This was of course in response to a post where I actually had to spell out exactly how Avatar was a political allegory.
ugh/rage
I just want to see a movie where a Looten Plunder-esque character slaughters native lifeforms wholesale for the crime of not being human enough. The movie ends with the planet being terraformed and all indigenous life, sapient, animal, and vegetable, torched off the planet.
Quaritch is a cool motherfucker.
Here's hoping the Na'vi sent his body back to Earth so we can give him a -proper- Dreadnaught walker.
Just downloaded it. Thank God I didn't send any money James Cameron's way.
First impression: That's it? That's all they could come up with? A thinly veiled political critique of imperialism, capitalism, business and PMC's? Come the fuck on, IT'S BEEN DONE. Mankind goes and offers savages true progress, savages remain savage, so WE'RE the bad guys?
Thought 2: Where were the nukes? ICBMs, orbital launch platforms, hell, even dumb bombs? "They've got hard bones, hard to kill lol" BUT THEY BURN! A sack of metal would pay for all the carnage and destruction they could ever hope to get the chance to use.
District 9 > Avatar in so many ways, and this is just one of them.
>BOMBS DO NOT GO STRAIGHT DOWN WHEN THEY ARE DROPPED MR. CAMERON.
And they keep talking about the reduced gravity on the planet. I mean, this is some fucked up physics-middle-finger-giving planet where fucking mountains can float. I can only imagine how far that payload would go at sufficient velocity.
But, of course, not taking 25 minutes to fly a few miles wouldn't have given the catgirl smurfs a chance to attack. |
