That's awesome, although I think he's wrong about the motivation for behavior regulations being primarily about image. I would say that it's much more important that having the McMurdo staff not own anything in the station means that there is nowhere in the entire continent of Antartica where the various agencies involved in Arctic research aren't liable for the injury of a staff member. Over time allowing jello wresting inevitably becomes indistinguishable from burning enormous piles of money. |
