Everyone unbuttons it before sitting. The point my Father was making is that only wankers button it standing, and I say he's absolutely right for overweight men. They look better with it unbuttoned at all times. I don't think that applies for everyone else, though. As a slim man, I bloat my profile when I unbutton my jacket. Perhaps that's not such a big deal in baggy-McNiggerfats USA, but in more stylish parts of the world, you're seen as a dork. I unbutton my jacket for personal, NOT STYLE reasons. I don't need a style guide.
