This guy complains about how painful it was to take active part in this horrifying scene of murder... and then beats himself up for failing to realize he could have, like, pointed his giant gun at one of the murderers. When active participation gave him something to worry about and talk about on his blog or whatever that site is, he was an active participant. When being a helpless viewer was the painful, conversation-generating thing, he was a helpless bystander. For him, Modern Warfare 2 isn't a game--it's part reality, part movie, and all controversy!

And there's nothing I can do to stop it. I mean, I could turn the game off, but that's just avoiding the situation, right?
No, that would pretty much stop it.

But I do know that it is easily the most affecting scene I've taken part in in a video game so far, and for that alone it deserves careful attention.
IN THE END all those tragic, fictional, moderately realistic deaths will have been worthwhile because of the serious discussion they provoked. Whew!
Hey here's a question about the actual game aspect of the game: Does it really prevent you from killing the terrorists? Like, are they invincible? That would be understandable but also kinda lame. Or maybe it lets you kill them if you're really good, but then you have to restart the mission because you wrecked your chance to get in close with the head terrorist? |
