No. I did install XP Pro Upgrade over the included XP Home, because XP Home is a piece of shit. Ininstall/trash whatever you don't want, if there was any proprietary bullshit involved I wouldn't give them the nod. HP does provide a bunch of software to drive that built in multi-card reader and sometimes HP will ask to scan for updates. This can be disabled but I didn't and haven't been fucked. Or you can do as niche mentioned and nuke/rebuild. Though I don't think it's necessary on this machine. Also, that is a full sized keyboard (numeric keys seperate just as god intended). When I am using it, it never occurs to me that I'm on a lesser computer.
