| My advice to anyone watching it is, when you get to the end of the car fight scene, rewind* back to the beginning of that scene and watch it again until you're tired of watching it. Nothing in the rest of the movie is remotely close to the greatness of that scene, which is practically right at the beginning.
The rest of the movie is less like Evil Dead and more like The Frighteners, but The Frighteners was still way better than Drag Me To Hell. The core problem: they announce in the first frame that whoever gets this curse will be fucked with for three days and then dragged... to HELL. So the three days is just a bunch of waiting around. Spooky shit happens but you know it's not important. Another problem: boring lead actress. Apparently whatserface from Juno was temporarily attached but got a better offer (to do... Whip It I guess). That would have improved things slightly but not enough to make it worth sitting through. Also I didn't understand the ending. I don't want to spoil it but it didn't seem to jibe with the rules that had been previously stated. *or whatever it is you call it when you skip back on a dvd or movie download or WHAT HAVE YOU |
