Being fat is a little more punishment than required, imo. by Last 10/24/2009, 10:57am PDT The crime: food is delicious, people are lazy, the majority of the US lives beyond walking distance of shopping/entertainment/work. The punishment: you look gross, feel guilty, die younger. I think the walking distance thing is a significant obstacle. Many Americans would be a *LOT* healthier if exercise was easier to come by. Sure, we can all get in our cars and go to the gym but the gym is fucking boring so not a lot of us do it. But imagine if you could get an hour or two of exercise in the course of your regular day doing the shit that you would be doing anyway! Further proof: There's nothing more pleasurable than seeing a thin immigrant move to a suburb and sneer at all the fat lazy Americans, but of course they're not actually any more disciplined than us - it's just implicitly more difficult to stay in shape here. You can really see it about eight months in when they've BALLOONED THE FUCK UP. Ask an immigrant to show you their passport photo after they've lived here for a year - it's hilarious how they stammer.
