Including player start markers. And there's a model browser in the editor when you're deciding which model to use.
The other additional steps for L4D are defining where it's ok for NPCs to walk and how to navigate the level. From what I've briefly read in the tutorial, you place some kind of marker in the level and, within a certain radius, it automatically tries to figure out where it's safe to walk, and then you can hand edit from there. For the navigation, you basically have to define where the start is, where the finish is, and the general path for how to get from one to the other so the bots don't get lost.
You can actually open up all the Valve levels for reference, but they're nuts. I haven't looked at them too deeply, but I opened them up just for a quick look and they're insane blobs of information. So it looks like I'll have to get real used to showing/hiding sections of map if I ever plan to make a playable level. |
