So if you have anything to say about new programming on the "big four" networks or how much welfare you think Jsoh is getting, this is the place. Here's what I've been watching so far, with links to Hulu:
Community (Thursdays at 8:00 on NBC) is a new sitcom about a hot-shot, street-smart lawyer (The Soup's Joel McHale), who gets sent back to community college for some reason. He's a moral relativist, and this is depicted as a bad thing. Over the course of each episode he learns a lesson about humanity and doing what's right. Oh, and Chevy Chase is in it!
Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live wrote:
Terry Sweeney (cast member): Chevy hosted the second show, and we were all so excited because, to us, Chevy was like a god; this was someone returning who'd been one of the original people and was this legendary figure. And when he got there, he was a monster. I mean, he insulted everybody. He said to Robert Downey Jr.,"Didn't your father used to be a successful director? What ever happened to him? Boy, he sure died, you know, he sure went to hell." Downey turned ashen. And then Chevy turned to me and he said, "Oh, you're the gay guy, right?" And he goes, "I've got an idea for a sketch for you. How about we say you have AIDS and we weigh you every week? I don't know what he was on or what was happening to him mentally, but he was just crazy.
Parks and Recreation (Thursdays at 8:30 on NBC) is a returning sitcom that, as far as I can tell, is mostly about cashing in on The Office. It has a similar premise - this time small-town bureaucracy is being spoofed in addition to office culture - and it's filmed in the same mockumentary style. It's still good, though, with Last night's episode ("The Stakeout") being the best one yet. It looks like they might be setting up special guest star Louis CK to become a semi-regular (we can only hope v_v).
Dollhouse (Fridays at 9:00 on FOX) is a returning drama about robot hookers. I don't think they're technically robots in the traditional sense but in their natural state they have the mind of a child and you can program them with computers to have various kinds of sex. It's written by a guy so sometimes you have to listen to writing but if you stick with it you will see the parts of a bum that aren't covered by a bikini. I think this picture says it best:
Imagine the guy on the left is the writing and the guy on the right is the annoying kid from That '70s Show and the two girls are the two halves of a bum. If you can see the bum clearly like in a magic eye painting then this show is for you. If all you see is wavy lines then I guess forget it. |
