I can't stop listening to Lansing-Dreiden. Additional love affairs: by Zseni-chan ^_^ 01/27/2005, 7:00pm PST
I loved Asian Kung-Fu Generation's "Kunkei Five" album a year and a half ago, and that love is totally still going strong. I adore that album. Their latest album has not made as much of an impression on me, probably because it is dwarfed by my huge bonertastic love of Kunkei Five. If you only sit through one Japanese album ever, make it Kunkei Five. Seriously. So good.

I finally listened to the Franz Ferdinand album after like months of putting it off because it was so beloved by gay theater dorks. And I liked it!!! A lot!!!! I think the Lansing-Dreiden album is better, but Franz Ferdinand is a good, gay, dancey band.

Patrick Wolf: here is a guy with a lot of smoke in his ass. I got Wind In The Wires, thought it was generally good, then his earlier works, and thought they were generally good, but his veneer of "authentic" Victorianism gets on my nerves. I like the way Lansing-Dreiden laugh at the whole idea of authenticity in commercial music.

Short Shameful Confession: I thought Mutant Disco I was released, you know, recently. Not in 1981, which is the year it actually was released. It's still a bangin' double album and perfect for roller skating. On the strength of it I tracked down both Cristina albums, which are fun, but not as much fun as Mutant Disco I. (Kid Creole And The Coconuts: they were fun too, before The Forbidden Dance: Lambada. Those who remember this soft porn ecotravesty will recall the Kid's cameo, which probably single-handedly sunk his career.) ((Ze Records is back by the way.))

I'm very proud that I was totally into disco before the hipsters decided disco was a pretty good idea after all. But it's like being into Ikea before Ikea made it big - you still have a living room full of cheap shit, it's just not the latest cheap shit anymore. Welcome to obselescence, population me.
