I've played this game since the beta, mostly because the swordfighting portion is cribbed directly from Super Puzzle Fighter which I LOVE and am GREAT at. I only play PP once or twice a year when the mood strikes. Normally it takes me a game or two to get my feet under me, and from there I build my way back up to the top rankings. The rules are subtly different from Super Puzzle Fighter so my skills don't translate 1:1, but I'm usually good enough to eventually eke my way into the very elite tip-top Ultimate rank. Once there I grow bored and go back to (quake) whatever current games I'm playing.
However, in 2009, these young cats are employing a whole different game then the one I'm used to.
So at this point I'm forced to admit utter shameful defeat. I've literally punched my keyboard in impotent rage, breaking the spacebar. I've shelled out premium fees for better equipment in-game. I've resorted to YouTube tutorials and PP forums in an effort to learn whatever tactics I've missed out on. But, for whatever reason (read: I'm old and kinda dumb), the fact remains that I will simply never reach Ultimate ever again.
So, congratulations to the new generation of swordfighters! May they all catch filthy fucking diseases that painfully rot their bodies from asshole to appetite those shit CUNTS. If I ever need to scratch the Puzzle Fighter itch again I'll load it up on the Dreamcast like a civilized human being. |
