The language I make text games in is called Hugo. The language was developed by Kent Tessman. Kent is also a filmmaker, and has recently released to DVD his latest flick, Bull. You can buy it here.

Kent is one of the wittiest goddamn guys in the world. I am convinced that, OF the 10 wittiest humans in the world, 9 of them post here, and Kent's the other one. I haven't seen his movie yet (it had been screening in Canada, far from me, unfortunately) but if his movie has any part of him in it whatsoever, it's gonna be engaging, sharp and awesome. Look goddammit, there's real actors involved as well - Nero Wolfe, for one. (Maury something. Maury Wolfe, let's go with that.)

My credit card got stolen by data thieves yesterday, but as soon as a new one arrives in the mail I'm buying this. I know twenty bucks is a bit much to drop randomly, but if you think you're up for it, give it a shot.

There's one bit I'm going to leave you with. So, Kent developed a rock-solid text game programming language. He also programs other stuff. There's over 130 special effects that he did for his movie, and well, to quote him:

A bunch of software tools were used for the VFX work. 3D elements were modeled and rendered with Maya, and good old Photoshop was used for 2D elements. Most of the heavy-lifting compositing [...] was done with After Effects, and some Fusion. A couple shots employed Combusion, as well. And a number of shots used Alien Ray, some software that I wrote specifically for Bull.

The man wrote some FX software for his feature film. Forget about how I consider him a god because of the text game stuff, if you've got any fuck-it money this month, please, buy his DVD.
