anchorage is pretty much like a one shot area where you can pick up some new gear, enjoy a new adventure, and then leave and forget about it forever
they weapon strip you for the "simulation" so you can pretty much do the mission as soon as you leave the vault, it's pretty easy and the loot is very good for low levels (gauss rifle ragdolls everything with a direct hit) plus the only skill you use would be lockpicking or maybe sneaking, plus most importantly it's a really fun mission
the whole area is a nice change of pace from the wasteland, everything is snowy with lots of particle snow effects everywhere, and tons of cool set pieces like active warzones and huge cliffs with facilities
the entire anchorage chapter is perhaps 3 to 4 hours of playtime
the pitt actually gives you a good reason to return after you complete the main quests: there are hidden steel bars around the abandoned area, and each 10 you return provides you with a piece of gear (and an achievement, too bad I have my script extender enabled) and there is an ammo press unlocked at the end that lets you trade scrap metal for bullets
the rest of the pitt is pretty nice, it's more like an actual city hub than anchorage's walkthrough objective, once again the area looks really awesome, with tall buildings surrounding you on all sides and well designed interiors, plus some nice doodads sprinkled around
I just started on point lookout but it looks even more varied and wide open, plus it seems like a good use of all my high level asskick gear with harder enemies and stuff |
