Randall Munroe talked to him in IRC and whined at him to stop making fun of his comic, and so he did. Also he realized Randall Munroe was A REAL PERSON WITH FEELINGS (for Megan). Apparently his college professor is a big fan of Randall Munroe's work at NASA or something?

Then he came back to XCKDsucks where everybody basically called him a "fag", and he had this to say:

I am also kind of respecting the fact that Randall is a little more sensitive by nature. I think he is at fault for not dealing with it better, and I think we are at fault for being so confrontational and demanding of him. I think the way I handled it (go to talk to him being REPRESENTATIVE of the community) was not creepy, but progressive. But now I know he doesn't like being approached by us. Maybe we should write a post, a REASONABLE post, detailing our views and telling him we understand his views. Hell, I promised him I'd try. I want us to get along. I think xkcd sucks should be renamed, kinda, but I think it's fine, if a bit confrontational.

tl;dr Let's be more sensitive while Randall toughens up.
