| The onboard computer went HAL style crazy. All at once, it was telling the pilots they were overspeed, stalling, climbing rapidly, and upside down. They were flying in pitch black and had nothing but the computer's lies to orient themselves. They didn't trust the computer, but they had nothing else to go on, so they accepted they were at 10,000 feet when they were really just meters above the water. After 30 minutes, the plane gave them its only truthful warning - terrain - but by then they'd been lied to so often they ignored it. They crashed into the water killing all on board. | ||||
