| People who haven't had a real flu lately make fun of how dire the recent flu sufferers react, but that shit is no joke. I had a flu in the winter and I also felt like it changed my life a little bit. One concrete change is that I'll get a flu shot every year from now on. I'm no longer too busy for that hassle! Many of my AIM palz can attest to how much I complained about having a fever for a week. It was demoralizing to wake up every day and not even be a little bit better. I finally broke down and went to the walk-in clinic and the doctor goes "yeah, you've got the flu, tough in out." Goddamn socialized medicine!
PS: flu shots are a very dangerous party subject as there is a lot of hidden passion behind that subject. Idiot yoga-type people may talk about how you're injecting toxins into your body, and even seemingly smart people may go off on how you're taking a gamble with your immune system because the scientists just take a guess as to next year's flu strains, so you're building up the wrong antibodies for nothing. And then people expect you to fire back with your pro-flu shot propaganda, like you care. Like you have a big investment in the issue. I usually just say that I hate all the austism-causing mercury in inoculations to change the subject. |
