Argento Soma is and always will be the king of all mecha/sci-fi animes, but it is not a space opera despite having plenty of space-related action.
I've been watching Legend Of The Galactic Heroes and that shit is completely a space opera, with neo-Prussians, bad commanders, sweeping multi-fleet space battles, tons of explosions, heroes saying goodbye to their tearful wives, flowers of chivalry, brilliant tactical decisions made at the last minute, multiple moons rising, emperors, concubines, famous warlords who wish they weren't so famous, and lots and lots of scenery. And the guys don't even look like ladies with short hair!
Kinda classic. Central Anime has all 110 never-released-in-the-NAFTA-member-countries episodes subbed. People with a lot of time to kill, like QB, should watch this and Hokuto no Ken rather than shit like Naruto or Bleach (total shit time will never redeem it.) |
