GAMECENTER CX subbed videos SEASON 1 by Fussbett 05/14/2009, 1:14pm PDT As linked previously on Caltrops, someone is subbing all the GameCenter CX shows and putting them on YouTube. For some reason they also cut out all of the filler clips about retro gaming in Japan, and leave just the Arino challenge. But that makes it easy to link them all in one big post. I you loved NES games, you'll probably like all of these. Some notorious and punishing Japanese game about Beat Takeshi, which Beat consulted on while drunk, but that didn't stop the developers from implementing every bad idea, including a karaoke challenge using the Famicom mic. Probably my favourite episode for the comedy, Arino's quest to understand a woman's heart, and the brief look inside the "Neo Romance Festivals" scene in Japan. A screaming video game convention for girls! I tell my girlfriend to "go wash your face" all the time now. The most contemporary game played, Steel Batalion, that $200 controller game for the Xbox. The game actually looks pretty fun because of the controller. Roommania was boring, and this episode is boring too, except for the Arino misunderstanding at the end. I love those ending title cards. For some reason this edit leaves in 3 minutes of HudsonSoft retrospective before getting to the game of the day: StarForce, pioneering shmup. Arino's goal is not to finish it, but to do a bonus point trick shot on a boss ship. You can probably just start watching the second video if you want to get right to the action. This episode has a cameo from some kind of Japanese Billy Mitchell character. Astro Robo SASA. AD Toujima helps out a lot in co-op. Nothing special. Galaga! Arino's goal is to get a perfect bonus stage. Door Door looks to be a really boring game along the lines of Space Panic, but a pretty good episode. Konami triple challenge: Yie-Ar Kung Fu, Gradius, and Track and Field. They have a Japan-only Track and Field peripheral but using foreign objects to assist the running speed is universal! Nearly full episode, with lots of filler stuff left in. This episode is the best for the video game aspect as Super Mario 2 (Super Mario Lost Levels) is legendarily difficult, and has already been linked here before. Several episodes from season 2 are on YouTube as well, with more being added as they get subbed. They're no longer editing the shows down so I'm not going to link those six-parters, but I'm enjoying them all.
