Laptop, netbook, or smartphone. by Zsenitan 04/28/2009, 10:46am PDT I don't have a thing where I need one toy that does absolutely everything I need a toy to do, but I'm trying to reduce the total number of toys I carry around, and carry around toys that require less investment to get them to do what I want to do. Plus I can't keep looking at 4chan and gay porn on my work laptop. I just don't know whether I'd be less discontent with a laptop, netbook, or smarter smartphone. Gadget will be used for: * Web browsing, must be Caltrops posting compatible, must be able to fit PBwiki's irritatingly fixed-width screens. Must be able to view flash videos. * Email * Non-intensive word processing/spreadsheets/BULLSHIT * Movies/music/TV shows etc. * SNES/DOS emulation; bonus points for PS1 emulation * Storing and viewing photos; bonus points for being able to run lightweight graphics editor without choking * Must have option to use full size mouse/keyboard via shit that plugs in or whatever * Should be able to use mobile broadband (not just wifi) whether via built-in card or USB dongle * 40 GB+ storage * Bonus points for: can take pictures * Extra bonus points for: will run Morrowind reasonably well Gadget will be used at: * The ass ends of bike rides * Planes, trains, automobiles * Too lazy to go up/down stairs to mancave with proper computer * At office when needing quick gay porn fix Dealbreakers: * Mandatory use of proprietary software or file formats - I'm looking at you, Apple iFucks. You too Sony. * Battery life less than 2-3 hours * Screen is hard to see in daylight Right now I'm leaning towards an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE 900HA.
