I tried to listen this horrible horrible podcast IN YOUR FACE AND UNSCRIPTED just to hear Sirlin's crazy nitpicks about SFIV spoken instead of written. I couldn't get farther than like 10 minutes, but it's hilarious to listen to the host and Sirlin try to imagine the fabled "casual gamer", aka hated retard. Sirlin also focuses on the jumps again saying the acceleration on them is weird, and there is an approved standard for jumping in 2D fighting games, so he's at a loss to explain how Capcom could make this mistake. But the podcast host presses further, and asks Sirlin to imagine what lead the SFIV design team to commit this jumping tragedy:
"Maybe they just set it that way initially, and then played it enough that it started to feel natural to them..."
What balls on this motherfucker! Basically Sirlin can't get past the fact that SFIV is not SFIVTurbo. The good news is that knowing Capcom, SSFIVT is a definite possibility. |
