I agree with most of the sentiments here, a thoroughly average documentary. King of Kong was better, but my opinion of it was reduced after I found out how questionable the whole Billy Mitchell bad-guy "narrative" is. One thing I've noticed about professional video gamers is, at least when they're at their prime, they don't really have the look of complete losers. They may be losers in real life, but they're not the stereotypical fat, neckbearded social outcasts that everyone accuses really good video game players of being. They're thin, not disgusting, and sociable. Plus they get more normal as they age. My theory about this is that fat people are fat because they're lazy, so that laziness extends even to their favorite hobbies. It's certainly true for me. =( |
