Re: Awesome.

They actually claim they made up the Gravity Gun first? Oh, my.
It wasn't a joke, it was there in the Doom 3 SDK -- which it logically would be because after all, the developers had it and played around with it and invented it first so why wouldn't it be in there? If I remember right everyone started making their own Doom 3 levels after launch and since the gravity gun was invented by id we all downloaded these new levels and threw boxes around with the gun. "Those things... those things never happened." -- Billy Batson, Kingdom Come "=(" Jhoh "Creexul" Cable, Caltrops Dot Com ICJ
Anachronox had a similar in-game-engine placement tool, for all of the three non-static items/NPCs they added for the entire game. Can you actually imagine adding/placing/situating an entity from outside of the engine, and why would you want to? So the idea of an in-game, entity-moving tool isn't so very unique, but adding a gravity gun is. They're spinning true statements ("we had an in-game entity tool") into lies ("We didn't totally rip off the idea of a gravity gun from the obviously-superior Half-Life 2"). It's not like Doom 3's physics engine allowed for entities to do damage to players, after all--something Half-Life 2 specifically allowed, even distinguishng between BLUNT damage and SLICING damage. So yes, they're lying liar liars (LIES).
