Posting my top ten to get Fussbett's top five
It has been discussed previously. I like people's lists. Here is my up to the minute top ten. I hope it makes you sick and you post your list and everyone agrees it is better than mine. That way I get to read the list. 1. Zork I: The Great Underground Empire PC Got me interested in video games, has two perfect sequels (II was what we liked about I, but better and was still okay for new players, while III blew everything up and was for us, dammit. Inspired me to spend virtually every single evening of my life making text games for the last 10 years. 2. X-COM: UFO Defense PC The sequels have sucked with this one, but it's still ahead of its time, seeing how we don't have destructible terrain in most games. 3. Duke Nuke 3D PC The second episode was kind of shitty, but the multiplayer made up for it, thus giving us three good episodes, and the add-on packs. 4. Knight Orc PC A MMORPG years before Ultima On-line. The characters in this game are just as annoying as real people. Presented a virtual world we're only just now seeing duplicated in other games. 5. Bomberman '94 Turbo Duo All my NY friends and I played this for hours, months and years when I was living there. We were playing it during Thanksgiving a few months ago. 6. Front Page Sports: Football Pro '98 PC STILL the best football game ever made. When I finally won the league, it was, at the time, one of the proudest moments of my life. Unfortunately, almost completely unplayable these days due to instability with XP. (Dunno about Vista.) 7. Robotron 2084 Arcade The only legitimate use for a computer is to play games. 8. Fallout 3 PC It also gets credit for letting me add mods to it. 9. Doom PC Changed everything 10. Tales From the Unknown Volume One: The Bard's Tale PC We were also allowed to play this in high school, for some reason. It, like Zork and Fallout, is also noteworthy for having two excellent sequels. There ya go. I demand the lists of others. ICJ
