Re: FIXING MY CRT

Sanitario666: I went to Home Depot to get an "insulated screwdriver" -- guy in the electrical aisle looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears
The dangerous part is the anode - with old monitors, they were horrible at discharging themselves nicely, but modern-day monitors are much better about it. You've had the CRT off for a few days, or a week, right? You're gonna be fine. Here's what I used when I replaced the monitor in my Ms. Pac. I assume some of it is relevant for a more modern tube. I was about ready to shit my pants before I jammed the screwdriver in there, FWIW. How To Discharge a Monitor Instant Arcade - How to discharge a monitor I did not hear the crack they talk about. I made my own screwdriver/wire thing. I had to get alligator clips and a thick gauge wire from the guy at Lowe's, and yeah, I am sure he thought I was a pervert, because I started to overexplain, like I always do with arcade shit. It's not going to be TECHNICALLY enough to kill you, as dumbasses on the KLOV forum are always fucking up and having the goddamn things go through their heart. They seem to make it back on-line okay. I'd be more worried about not having anything sharp behind you in case you do set it off and go flying that way. Good luck! We'll tackle the Badlands after you fix your ViewSonic. the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey!
