PS: Some shitty shit they didn't fix from Earthbound.
The game still refuses to stack items in your inventory, so if you have 2 nuts, it has one nut in one space and the other nut in the other space, instead of both occupying the same space. And you only have room for like 20 items per character, and if you want another character to have the item you have to select to "give." It is very old school and that's intentionally and I understand, but so many modern RPGs have made this better, and I don't just mean faster or easier, I mean BETTER. Also the new mechanic where you tap the A button to string combos is almost cool, but you do it to a beat which is different per song per monster. When you do it successfully a sound blasts over the music, it's supposed to be sort of musical but it isn't at all, it's just a bunch of noise. The only way you're allowed to find what this beat is is either by guessing or putting the enemy to sleep, then it will play their "heartbeat" which is the beat you're supposed to beat their ass to. The beat usually doesn't fully match up to the music either, although it sort of does, just not enough. You do way more damage when you make a combo, and it's not all that hard, but still I'd prefer to be able to play this game without sound, as you should be able to with all JRPGs, because for the most part they are such lock step grindfests where you have absolutely no say or bearing in the progression of the game or the storyline. But really, most of JRPGs is fight enemies, heal/save, repeat, and then walk through an occasional cutscene.
