I lied on my resume for my last job.
[quote name="Hans Clastorp"]I claimed I had a masters degree (in philosophy!) when in actual fact I dropped out ABT after two years. At the time, being an academic was a big part of my self worth, and I didn't really know how I would cover the two years spent on worthless education, so I just went ahead and granted myself the degree. Of course nobody ever checked or cared the slightest bit, but I felt like a total fraud until I quit. Now I have no problem talking openly about failing at grad school without crying, so it's no longer an issue. Anyway, if you're going to lie on your resume, education is a good choice because the chances of getting called on it are pretty slight, and a decent salary can compensate for feelings of fraudulence for a surprisingly long time.
