It's like suddenly sprinting to your desk or swearing loudly out of the blue signals how consequential your decisions are which signals how much money you're managing which is all they respect. They'll drop a conversation halfway through without excusing themselves because of a ticker flash or phonecall; they'll swear at you from across the trading floor, or they won't swear they'll just fume, which is worse because they'll save it for their gym breaks and bitch you out to anyone around. There are Plasmas on the walls showing test match Cricket which I swear are only there so people can make a big show of ignoring them and displaying how busy and important they are. When I'm no longer looked on suspiciously, I'm going to find the remote and change to Nat Geo so these dickheads stop feeling cool and behold actual important work and adventures.
