Re: WoW Seems to Have Found a Magic Formula

Now I don't to further jeopardize my status as reliable reviewer so I will be more clear. Is it any good at all (you asked?) Yes, yes it is.
There's no such thing as a reliable reviewer, really. There's only reviewers who express the reasons for their opinions in a way that let's me judge how likely I am to agree. Is it neccessarily fair of me to barge in and demand you Justify Your Praise? No, but this is Caltrops, the last bastion of pointless belligerence and people utterly despising everything that isn't awesome. I want to know if all these people praising the fuck out of a game I had assumed would be awful means I would enjoy it, too. Specific questions: Is the combat itself fun? Does it rely a lot on cooldown periods, even for basic abilities, or is it more fast and clicky/twitchy? Are there tactics to consider beyond the obvious, even for a solo player? Does it take several levels before it comes into its own? The quests: Aside from being numerous, is there anything really to them in terms of depth or variety? Is it just "go here, fight five of the same guys you fought on the way here, click on hotspot"? Is there a lot of impetus to explore, or do you need to hang out in "rat hunting grounds" for several levels before you can reasonably see the world and travel from place to place without getting your ass handed to you?
