Re: I got the trial and never bothered to renew.

I made a blood elf! A mage! Not at all like hunterly me. I got a mage to 30 before I quit in complete disgust. Here are some things you should know about mages: * 90% of the game involves drinking water to restore mana. * Enemies: they're hard! * You are PVP food. Meanwhile huntards got their dead zone removed and are more powerful than ever. Do shamen still suck a dick? Probably. Why does Blizz like huntards so much and mages so little?
How long does it take to gain a level in WoW? I've never played it. When you say you have a level 30 mage, can that be done (by a reasonable adult with a job) in a week or two? A day? I'm amazed at how addicting this game is, but it's probably best for me if I don't get playing to see why for myself. ICJ
They made it easier to level up to 60 recently. You get more XP from quests or something so advancement is faster. You could get to level 30 in a week if you don't do much with your profession skills. Also, it's faster if you already know what all the quests are, of course. Two weeks would be more reasonable. It's addicting until you notice that you're incredibly bored. Some highlights from my past few sessions: -- Playing on a PVE server (I'm a pussy), I discovered that nobody will help you if you're about to die fighting a mob. A whole party of guys just watched me buy a WOW farm. Thanks, fellas. -- Another entire party watched as my brother and I came close to dying while killing a boss and all of his buddies in Redridge. We think they were waiting for us to die so they could then clean up and finish the quest themselves. But we LIVED. WOO! IN YOUR FACE! -- My brother and I performed the not-recommended and fairly suicidal Stranglethorn death jog at 22nd level so we could get to Ratchet and the rest of Kalimdor. It seemed shorter than running to Menethil, and it was. And on PVE, not too bad, really. All this done with my first warlock character. They're okay once you get the funner minions. I hate the turd burgler guy you start with. Yee haw. BTW, Zseni: my brother does just fine with his fire mage, which he got up to 62nd level on a PVP server. At later levels, the amount of damage he could do in a short time became truly phenominal. I recall that up to about 50th level or so, my priest spells were in the neighborhood of his mage spells damage-wise (although his were AOE and mine weren't) but after that, his spells got way way tougher. (Talents. I forget which ones since I don't play a mage.)
