FANTASY HOLE: THE OMM GAME

Re: Fussbett feels like shit for being an old cunt.

But there is another way for it to work: Somebody plays games, and loves them, and loves them, and after a number of years grows out of them. And then they still love games, but they want something more sophisticated than what is available.
I think the problem is the opposite. When you're like 13, you can spend up to 150 hours playing Final Fantasy 3, leveling all your guys up to 99, getting every secret, and even teaching Gau every spell with every esper. It doesn't mean that the game justified all that time, only that you were willing to put in all that time. When you get older, ideally your tolerance for that thing goes way down. If it doesn't, bad things happen.
Speak for yourself, and possibly Fussbett! I only leveled them up enough to get through the bulk of the game, and even then the final battle was too easy. :( I dunno, I spent huge amounts of time playing some games (SimCity!), but it really was justified in that I enjoyed it. Why else would I do it? Are you saying it's because kids (some of them anyway) don't have anything better to do? There would be some truth to that. But do you not see your (presumable) loss of tolerance for repetitive BS in games as an increase in the level of sophistication you require of games? It seems like we are agreeing, notwithstanding that a person who accepts this idea still may not actually consider themselves to have outgrown the better of today's games.
