Most of those goodies seem to have something to do with the sampling capability. CC control of start point is really nice: it makes it an ersatz Wavestation.
Actually you can do a even more than that...
Here's a protip from a hardware sampler user: Make the samples in a wave editor (e.g. CoolEdit/Audition, Wavelab) and then load them into the sampler. Playing samples with a hardware sampler's fx: super fun! Trimming and naming a lot of audio files on a tiny lcd screen: hell on earth. SCSIforSamplers.com has external media card drives for the Kxxxxs.
Thanks for reminding me of that. I went there after I bought an Emax (I had a temporary brain fever where I thought 512k of sample RAM was enough to be usable), noticed mine couldn't use a card reader, gave up, and forgot about it. I've actually got a CF reader in my monitor, of all places, that I've never plugged in. Good job, Dell. Current kit: Microwave XT, JP-8080, SQ-80, K2500, 1st gen Nord Modular, Emax v1, Morpheus, Matrix 1000. I am not buying jack shit for a long time Current favorite: SQ-80 Current mood: Horny >:( -/ES/-
