Re: I'm awfully smug for a man who can't keep sailors out of his Northwest Pass

At no time in Canada's long and storied history has any citizen ever accused his countrymen of being "anti-Canadian," yet Americans call each other "anti-American" every day. Question: how does an assertion so ridiculous on its face become an accepted part of political debate?
Surely Canada must be full of Americans who left the US because of a violation of special principles they will never shut up about. Non-US expats will happily admit the grass is greener wherever and leave it at that, but all the Americans I've met overseas give these massive, defensive political explanations for why THEY are working for 6 months in India as a Java supervising technician. They just can't shut up about it. Every American living overseas is doing so out of some gay protest. I suppose it's partly to reassure themselves about walking out on the greatest country on earth, and partly to show the world they're not one of those Americans, but they are absolutely anti-American. No one bashes America as badly as Americans do. Everyone else thinks it goes without saying.
We couldn't care less what you think about America, and we all secretly pity the rest of you for not being Americans. We'll take the dumbest, buck-toothed hick in Moonpie, Alabama more seriously than the Chancellor of Oxford. The fact that you all sound like idiots with your ridiculous accents when you try to speak our language solidifies this.
