Re: What are your thoughts on Pokemon Puzzle League?

Everyone says it's better than Tetris Attack because it's exactly the same, minus the slowdown. I'm skeptical, but I don't know for sure, because I got my first IBM-compatible shortly after Tetris Attack came out and didn't touch another console until GTA3 necessitated it.
It isn't quite exactly the same--the block-falling rules are slightly different as well (not sure about the details; it's pretty subtle), and of course it has its stupid 3D mode and different single-player-mode stages etc. Also the N64 controller is mildly inferior for this sort of game. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, the N64 version has a lamer audiovisual theme. Although the Pokémon do make adorable Pokémon sounds. I prefer Tetris Attack but an OCD-addled person might think otherwise due to the slight improvements to the engine and hardware. Really they're interchangeable for purposes of impromptu multiplayer ass-kicking. There's a version on Japanese GameCube as well, but it's awkward because the GameCube controller is even worse for precise cursor-navigation (a shame, because that version allows 4-player matches, and also features some of the most absurd-looking AI opponents I've ever seen in a video game).
