Re: Finally saw Superbad and read that awful Time article.

If you go back to some of the great romantic comedies of the 30s and 40s — Bombshell, The Awful Truth, The Women, Midnight, Ball of Fire, The Lady Eve, Adam's Rib — you'll see that women got to be at least as witty as the men, and that was very witty indeed.
Referencing the 1940s as superior film making = AUTOMATIC FUCKING ---------> LOSE
Whoa you took the one true sentence in the entire review and disagreed with it. The movies are a wasteland of Dumb Tits these days. How bad is it? It's so bad that Megan Fox's "I'm Only A Little Regressive" star turn as an EVIL JOCK CONCUBINE stands out as the strongest female performance of the summer. Movie women are shrill, stupid, needy, and gorgeous nowadays, whereas in so many of the sharp wordy films Our Reviewer mentions, they were rather more independent and sharp. I mean, you could even see, between the women in a particular movie, which ones were dumb and which ones were smart. Now they're all the same: Woman Smart, where she's a lawyer or a doctor (sure honey whatever) who can't think of a comeback or do anything for herself besides dress really nicely and she really just needs some loosening up, dick-style. So does her mom/sister/best friends/whatever! In both kinds of movies, there's plenty of entry-level misogyny on the lines of A Woman's Life Is A Big Fucking Void Waiting For Dick, but at least, in the 40's, sometimes a woman just walked away from the dick. Even if it meant walking into the void for good. Maybe you don't understand what it means when all movie women secretly want nothing more than to be Jessica Biel with more dicks in her, but Pfizer and I understand it only too well.
