Re: A guy with no education making $32,000 a year in Boston can't afford to laug

On the other hand, it's great to know that sweeping the floor and pouring the coffee at some game studio that will be gutted in six months like they all are is all it takes to impress you. Perhaps you can get a metafilter account and dicksuck a REAL LIVE DEVELOPER (who has never and will never write a single line of code). Shoot for the stars!
Man, I thought about this thread while I was out at dinner tonight. (Fussbett has Caltrops dreams, but I have Caltrops ruminations.) Something was off and I couldn't put my finger on it, and then it clicked into place all Ayn Rand style. Here are the two camps presented at this week's SB roast: People Who Were Sure SB Would Be A Permanent Loser Forever People Who Scornfully Announce That They Knew He Would Come Up Aces And Everyone On Caltrops Is A Loser The secret: they're both wrong. BECAUSE: Most of us who have been working forever understand what a fucking dreadful bore work is. Day in, day out, thanks for the paycheck, it's all fuckin gone thanks for the bills, week after week, year after year. Work sucks, that's why they have to pay you to do it. How the fuck is buying in to this awful cycle "winning"? He was winning BEFORE, when his sugar mommy paid all his bills and all he had to do was fix the toilet and suffer through another blowjob. But now, as Souf points out, he's capitalizing on his smattering of university and his delicate Nazi ears. The guy who reviewed gaily overpriced headphones before deleting Caltrops is now an "Associate Producer" and maybe he can finally buy a gun after seven years (I've been counting) of talking about them. Maybe he will be able to parlay this scant foothold on Reality into a lifelong career, but if he does, then he's no longer crazy (hence interesting.) Maybe he won't, and then we can all enjoy his lapse back into irrelevance and mefi obscurity. The worst and most worrying part is that there's so much market for unemployed Randian child-murdering idiocy, and so little for Zseni's Sex-Positive Tea Shoppe.
