Re: The Lives of Others

Is it depressing? I can't handle movies that are too dark.
Most of the dozen people watching this film with me stayed deep into the credits so their cheeks could dry. I could have also cried, but I suppressed the urge properly like a real man. They would have been good tears, though Zseni. It's a beautiful movie.
Or that talk about ordinary people. :(
The characters in this film aren't ordinary by East German standards, and ordinary East Germans aren't ordinary by western standards anyway. The men in this film are fucking cool. Creexul will love it because it's set in a time with real live moderators.
And I can't be bothered to look anything up about this movie either.
It is currently IMDB's #73 best movie of all time. Everyone thinks as great as I make it out to be. It's a sure thing!
Think of it as "The Conversation" behind the Iron Curtain.

It's The Conversation crossed with ordinary people, set in Germany.
Nice one. Perhaps having seen that 30 year old movie will ruin this for you. I don't know.
