Re: Still not buying it.

I think your interpretation represents a level of All People Are The Same Person sufficient to put you in the MM/JW Peace Explosion league.
I got bored of that thread before you coined your new favorite phrase, but I'm fairly certain that you're totally off base. I'm not claiming that there aren't exception, and I think that maybe in focusing on "circumstances" you overlooked "odds are." In any event, the point is that what isn't surprising is who is willing to act like a sadist when given license from an authority figure or (even better) structure. Occam's razor suggests that this means it's probably a more accurate interpretation of the results in question.
So basically what you're saying is "I'm right no matter what." This is also a very Peace Explosion way of doing business. It's always striking to see how little tolerance you Peace Explosion types have for even the suggestion that one person could be fundamentally different from another person. All humans are reducible to the same human, and you have got that basic human really figured out! Peace Explosions and 260,000,000 Eichmanns are not unreasonable conclusions to draw given what you are willing to assume. And of course everyone who doesn't quiiiiite fit under the bar you guys set - gun nuts, people resistant to authority, people with aggressive dispositions, Zseni - are "exceptions", and occur in provably insignificant quantities, so they never have to be taken into account in your various theories. I'm not even sure what we're fighting about any more. The fundamental difference between your viewpoint and mine is not really one of opinion but derivation: you're willing to say "odds are" and confirm the adherence of 99.9% of the human race to goose-stepping inhumanity. But you'll recall that I started this thread with essentially the same statement, and you replied by telling me that I was misinterpreting the results of a couple experiments. So if you're not getting your conclusion from the experiments, where are you getting it from, and why is it suddenly incorrect if I draw the same conclusion from a different place?
