Re: Are you talking about the Angela Lansbury thing?

The Scarlet Pimpernel with (hidden Hungarian) Leslie Howard. He was magnificent, but the leading lady (Merle Oberon) was awful in a very Battlefield Earth way.
In a Battlefield Earth kind of way? Was every scene with her shot at a 45 degree angle? Did she combine malevolent laughter with a high-pitched voice? Was her dialog peppered with ridiculous hyphenations and the word "crap?" Did she start the film a lice-picking cavewoman and end it an ace harrier pilot? I am giddy at the possibilities. Murder She Wrote is a pretty formulaic TV mystery show in the Quincy format (It's an open and shut case!) The main entertainment to get out of them are filling in the hidden details. Like the fact that you cannot invite Jessica Fletcher to a party without SOMEONE dying. Or the fact that her sleepy little New England town of Cabot Cove averages one murder every 2 weeks at least. It's my theory that she's in fact committing all the murders. Why else does she always put herself in grave danger in order to "string together the clues" in every single episode? She's leading the cops down a false trail to her intended patsy. I wish the series ended with her trying to pull that shit over on Columbo.
