Their lack of moral values reflect...well, nothing.

CGW is very willing to trash non-A+ releases as any gaming rag should be, but with the nuzzling and guzzling of Doom III, Black and White and MOO3 they've proven that they won't offend big releases with enough hype.
Heh, I remember the first time I sent IGN a letter about journalistic integrity. They did some preview of a game that talked about how good the game was, how fun it was to play, how great it would be when everyone had their own copy, etc. They had not played it, they had not seen anyone else play it, they had a few exclusive screenshots and that's it. So I send a letter pointing out that the language of reviewing really isn't appropriate for an article billed and otherwise written as a preview, and they emailed me an apology. I read them less, and started looking for websites that could at least get the illusion of integrity bit right. A year later, same thing. I stopped reading IGN altogether, I didn't even go there when linked or whatever, I just don't want any part of it. That was around 6 or 7 years ago, and they have only gone downhill since. There is presently no pressure, either economic or otherwise, on any of these publications to edit their content with anything resembling integrity. The writers' living relies on the advertising from the game companies and the access they are given far more than the subscriber fees they get. Since their paychecks are not based in any way on their being trustworthy, there's no reason for them to do the right thing. If you find a website or something that gives honest reviews, we're always looking, but it's just getting more and more rare (not that it was common in the first place). /jeep/
