Re: Tips

I stuck with the default punches on the autocombo and their corresponding upgrades Something quick and one hit at a time so if the enemy blocks you can react in time to do a guard break. Multi-hit attacks, especially the mach speed punch, are great for dizzying enemies after you guard break them, but putting them in the auto combo is a good way to get guard-broken (or whatever it's called when you hit a blocking guy too much) yourself. Use and learn to love "dodge high attacks" moves.
That makes sense, I'll give that a whirl. Now, do you include any of the big damage hits near the end of the combo sequence or are those exclusively for the single attack buttons...basically I have a shit ton of them already, they're all great, and I have a tough time picking between them.
I assume by default uppercut they mean charged punch. I never liked that move (or any charged attack) very much, use the insta-launchers like mule kick or rocket uppercut instead. I found myself using the whole axe-kick-punt built-in move to do most of my launching. The way you do that is go up to an enemy on the ground and press forward triangle (you can charge it, but I don't recommend it) then when they're in the air follow up with triangle (no direction) and they'll be launched. And if you don't know, while an enemy is launched, hit back triangle to do a dragon punch or hit forward triangle to do a launching roundhouse. Enemies may dodge the punch, but the roundhouse never misses.
That would have been great to know in the tutorial or something. I guess I really do need to use the training dummy more....is this stuff intuitive for Fabio-like people out there? Ninja Gaiden got hit on for its difficulty curve but at least there few mysteries around what button presses did.
All finishing the entire game with the "kick me" sign on your back does is give you an extra 3rd of the soundtrack to listen to in the shop. Remember when the sound-test was a throwaway afterthought in games instead of sko desperately coveted unlockable? On the other hand, it is a great way to learn the combat system.
Well, the absence of a real difficulty level modifier, a tutorial worth a shit, or a real postgame is a real letdown. DMC definitely has an edge there.
