Whereas PKZip's multi-volume assumed you were spanning floppies and would prompt for blank ones during compression, writing a same-named file to each as it went. At DEcompression time, PKzip required you to insert the last floppy first, then the first, second, and so on. These flaws made zip a poor fit to the warez distribution model. AND it had better compression than zip, until zip added the "Deflate" method in response to ARJ/RAR eating its lunch. [/quote]
