I may be jumping to conclusions here, but I suspect the reason you keep mentioning how these incidents lead to the cops working unpaid overtime filling out paperwork was because said cops kept bitching these details at you? Do you live in a small town? Is this dude buddies with a few cops?
I don't think he has any friends at this detachment. Back when my mom was still proud of this guy's boneheaded alpha-maleness, she used to brag about how the cops have had a hard-on for him ever since the night he took an off-duty officer's gun(!) in a bar brawl. I find it hard to believe the local constabulary care about him one way or the other, though, because they assigned their most junior member to my case. Which brings me to why I know so much about how hard and stressful and whatnot it is to be a cop. The member I've been dealing with is a petite blonde, early twenties, well-spoken, with a 10mm Glock. She pushed my Agent Scully button so hard it came out the other side. So whenever she starts complaining about paperwork or how nervous she is about testifying in court because she's never done that before(!), I can't help but pretend to be caring and sympathetic. This only encourages her to go on and on while I stare at her like some kind of Jhoh Caruso.
