More learning about the turret restrictions and stuff.
As the eldar, you can build tons and tons of minefields (any race that has minefields can load a map up with them, just in case you'll play on defense later). As necrons, you don't get any mines, and the turret rule is the same where you're limited to 5. But I found out that it's 5 per HQ you build, so if you build a second monolith or whatever main starting base HQ building, it increases your turret cap. It also increases the cap for plasma generators, which is handy for necrons because that's like all they use. One weird thing about the necrons is that the first plasma generator is free (just like their builder units and initial necron warrior squads). The next one is like 40 power, then 50, then 70, 80, then 100, 120 and so on, and each one builds slower and slower no matter how many flags you have capped (for the necrons, your listening post equivalent increases your overall build times, since you don't use requisition resources). If you get a second monolith and start building the 200+ power cost plasma generators, they can take many many many minutes to get up, but you don't even need the second monolith to get enough power to dominate a map. Another tip, you shouldn't try to take on an enemy's stronghold (that's their main territory, the one that they get kicked off the map if they lose) without having plenty of honor guard to start. The honor guard are special unit squads that you get for taking over some of the normal territories, and they're extra strong and initially can't be reinforced, meaning they're only like 4 dudes, and you can only reinforce them if one of them dies. Once you've gotten a nice chunk of honor guard, that's the right time to try to take the closest enemy stronghold. So far I've never had an enemy get close to my stronghold, even when I was playing as the eldar and getting fucked up many times. I think you'd have to lose constantly over and over for them to even try it, and only when the entire planet is down to you and one other enemy race. Sometimes the enemy armies go a whole round not moving, or going back and forth not attacking anything. If they did, then their sheer numbers would let them destroy each other after the first 5 or so rounds, leaving you to deal with one giant powerful enemy army.
