cylong memories can be transmitted using unjammable and undetectable -- whatever -- over essentially infinite distance.
Essentially infinite, but actually very finite. They spent three episodes on that.
Right, billions of miles. Yes they have to keep a ship nearby to recieve this message but you gotta FTL jump to get to it. But I'll admit, I haven't watched the show in ages. Anway, that makes it believable? The magic has a range past which it doesn't work. Oh okay nevermind then!

And a stealth figher can just be thrown together in somebody's garage.
The garage... of a Battlestar where the engineers build Vipers around the clock, every day.
I'm pretty sure the entire point of that episode was that they hadn't built a viper on BSG before. They'd been repairing them only. And the very first ship they build, without authorization and with just whatever they can find is . . . THE AMAZING INVISIBLE VIPER.

This kind of realism problem is a shortcomming of all sci-fi. I think that good sci-fi is the stuff where you enjoy talking about the silly, impossible things and consider them basically in a positive way, and bad sci-fi is where you enjoy talking about the silly, impossible things, and they are instead a reason to stop watching the show.
It's been a while since one of your posts where you don't believe NASA either.
I don't believe NASA? About what?
