Re: Other fan reactions (AIM log)

Sanitario666: I still can't get over the transmitting of data. Sanitario666: Like the Cylons couldn't be using tech beyond his grasp. ToutSuite: thank god the show hasn't posited time travel yet, or his head would explode Sanitario666: Sure, they can make indistinguishable human clones, but modems are modems, people.
Yes, one silly impossible-to-believe plot device justifies the other impossible-to-believe plot devices. :( When parts of the show are incredibly realistic (the space combat in particular) it's a little jarring to return to the world of make-believe where cylons can shoot a trillion rounds without any obvious store of ammo, robots can be indistinguishable from people, even under a microscope, and cylong memories can be transmitted using unjammable and undetectable -- whatever -- over essentially infinite distance. And a stealth figher can just be thrown together in somebody's garage. And all the rest of that crap. This kind of realism problem is a shortcomming of all sci-fi. I think that good sci-fi is the stuff where you enjoy talking about the silly, impossible things and consider them basically in a positive way, and bad sci-fi is where you enjoy talking about the silly, impossible things, and they are instead a reason to stop watching the show. Anyway, your IM logs were stupid.
