Re: being the best torrent club in town

With the number and enthusiasm of its members, oink should be doing great things by now, but it is not and never will.
The enthusiasm of its members is a result of the ratio system. A high ratio counts for a lot in the Oink universe. Water that down, and you're left with torrentspy with logins.
oink should be doing great things by now
You've got some nerve, and no grounds, for calling Oink an underachiver. Any suggestions you have to improve it count for shit because you are too busy or lazy to do anything about them and Oink admins are too content with the status quo to listen. Oink is what it is: a fast torrent site with a wide range of files that should only be used judiciously.
The discographies were just a hint of what was possible--note that many of them simply didn't exist anywhere else--and they were canned for the most mundane and inane of reasons.
Bullshit. Discographies are everywhere. They were canned on the grounds of effeciency in an effort to make people more selective. The majority of Oink users are in favour of ban; I'd say the majority of Caltrops-Oink users are OK with it, also. The fewer 9.5GB Santana discographies clogging up the internet's tubes, the better.
Oink cannot become any more than a somewhat-exclusive file trading club, with somewhat higher standards of quality than the rest
That's all anyone sensible expects of it. You'll have to take your warez revolution to IRC.
because its owners lack the vision to do anything but suppress whatever surprises them.
When you've got a good thing going, there's no shame in preserving the status quo. Don't mistake of using their forums, and you won't risk surprising them, AND you can almost fool yourself into thinking it's a cool place to be.
