The last person to make an honest effort at that was Tipper Gore. So powerful were her efforts that 20 years later we're still reading her reviews and they're printed right on the fucking CD covers. The reason Quentin Beck has been kicking Zseni up and down the street so easily throughout this thread is that anyone who returns to Caltrops with a long post about how much they loved a Steven Seagal concert and then later claims they're just trying to introduce people to music they might like is obviously a liar and not a very good one. Forced to defend a position she never really believed, she's changing the playing field by making up terms (edgy-safe) then berating people for not categorizing music correctly as edgy-safe or not, and finally just reminding them that she's cool and they aren't.
