Re: Unwatched. I took a break to watch all of Battlestar Galactica.

Maybe I have read too much sci-fi, or maybe because I know too much real sci, but I did a little mental legwork when I saw this and assumed that it was some kind of access scheme, like the details of the encryption for instance, and not a single password, that Baltar betrayed.
That was my impression as well -- or rather, I thought he betrayed the access code to the "defense mainframe" which would give the Cylons key intelligence about their defense dispositions. But Easterbrook also ranted about how "OMG THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PASSWORD!" Are all writers stupid?
Perhaps they didn't have plutonium laying about? Perhaps their bombs don't work on the same principles ours do? I don't remember him mentioning he wanted plutonium at any point, only that he needed the warhead. Seemed plausible to me to think that the warhead had something else in it that was useful to the only superscientist left on the fleet.
Yeah, Baltar did ask for a nuke. Once again, there was no mention of it being "a complete and working" bomb, and he didn't fucking keep it in his cabin. This is more totally made up bullshit. Now, if we want to talk about the actual stupid things in the show, like how LOVE is a critical ingredient for Cylong babies, then cool. But there's no need to make up crap to hate this show, if that's what you want to do.
